Quick thoughts on the X100V

I’m just as much of an outsider on this one as everyone else, but I did have a chance to chat yesterday with a couple of my buddies who were involved with testing it. Beyond the specs (which look fantastic), beyond the new lens (which makes this a completely new camera), beyond the new sensor/processor, weather resistance, Classic Negative (yay!)...they both shared the same feeling: that it feels incredibly right.

I’ll be looking forward to trying it out myself, but I get the sense that we’re seeing a new phase in the evolution of Fujifilm cameras: refinement. That’s obviously always been part of every iteration, but now it’s as if the company is much more aware of each camera’s core identity and willing to push hard in every model’s specific direction. I get the impression the X100V is defined—just like the X-Pro3 is defined. It’s exciting.
