All will be fine

My phone rings and it’s the school calling: “Héloïse hit her head during gym class. We monitored her and she seems ok—no nausea or vertigo—but we had to let you know. It’s her last class now so she’ll be home shortly”. You learn not to panic, especially by the third child. You have to or you’d end up balled up in a corner, day in day out, afraid to look at the world. I’m always reminded of what Steve Jobs once said about kids...that it’s like having your heart walking around outside your body.

Truth is, she’s pretty proud of that bump on her forehead. Couldn't stop talking about it, looking at herself in the mirror, hoping for the blue-green hues of major calamities. No luck so far though.
We read Harry Potter, her mom brushed her hair.
All will be fine.
