Serif
This post is fully and utterly self-indulgent. I wanted to see the "new" design in action so I'm pretty much just typing for the hell of it. Not that I couldn't pick out a topic from the ongoing saga that is now our daily fare—dear God almighty. But no. Not going there again. Constant outrage and disappointment aren't sustainable.
Design is a big word: I mostly mean cosmetics. The most meaningful change is this return to a serif typeface for body text. Let's call it the Kobo effect. Truth be told I was never particularly enthusiastic about the readability of the font I'd picked for the blog when I did the 7.1 redesign. And there's something about the bookish nature of serif that's kind of elemental and timeless. The blog margins are narrower as well: again, for added legibility.
I like it. Do you?
