And we were all yellow

The smoke finally caught up to us.

We'd been lucky so far, with a brief, comparatively mild episode two weeks ago. But by Sunday, Montreal had clinched the title for Worst Air Quality on Earth. Earth!

We were in the Townships for the long weekend, trailing by 1 on the index scale, but it made little difference: you could see it, smell it, feel it pressing on your lungs.

The smog is back today, but nowhere as intense—for now. Our friends in the US are getting the worst of it, and the clouds are reaching Europe as well. Like volcano eruptions, like California wildfires, these extreme events show how small and interconnected we all are.

How fragile.

P.S If you're wondering about the light leaks in pics 5 and 8: those were processed in DXO FilmPack 6. No, I'm not leaving LR ;)
