Needles & Poets
This post is part of The Quiet Lane series.
I drop the needle on Blue Train, from Blue Note's Tone Poet Series—the first new analog record I've owned since 1989.
It was on sale, and I was curious, and now I sit, transfixed. I can touch them, I swear. I could just raise my voice and they'd stop and look up at me from behind their instruments, and we'd chat a bit, and take a sip from our drinks and laugh and then they'd start playing again. The piano's right next to me. There's dust and smoke and a faint, sour, whiff of sweat in the air.
So this is vinyl, in 2023.
Holy God.
