Quarantine Day 10 | A Dumb Chronology of Recent Moments

We live in a very quiet neighbourhood, making it much harder to notice the impacts of the latest confinement measures. But that yellow police tape, wrapped around the swings and various modules in the park, sure makes it clear enough. No more messing around.

We’re used to silence...but this is a brand new flavour. It’s the silence of glass domes. It affects how we breathe as much as what we hear.
A low humming calm,
something like the growl of a predator.

But you adapt, right? As promised we brought back structure in our household this week: a period of study in the morning, a documentary episode after lunch and then “project time”—arts, writing, cooking, virtual visits to museums etc. It’s nice really. We’ve always been perfectly fine just hanging together so it’s not a huge stretch. Oh and parents also get to do some work as well ;)

I read a piece somewhere—before all of this began—about the notion of quality time, and how overrated it might be. How it’s setting us up for disappointment. Because the point, it said, should be time together, period. Life—normal life—should be enough. I couldn’t help finding a similarity with photography, with the idea of constantly waiting for “the right opportunity” as opposed to simply picking up the camera on a daily basis. Again, life should be enough. Food for thought.

Below you’ll find an assemblage. Nothing beyond the recent chronology…and that silence.

P.S Yup, I did use flash on some of these. Craving variety I think. Let’s play a game in the comments: which ones did I light? No peeking at the metadata folks :)
