Quarantine Day 06 | In Amber
I spent most of yesterday with a bad headache, feeling quite under the weather. Yeah, your mind goes there immediately. But by the evening I was feeling better and this morning I’m fine. We get official updates every day, from both levels of government; all borders are now closed and it looks as though school may not be back until at least May—at which point I kinda wonder if it’ll be worth it. Alberta has already decided to cancel the year altogether, with every student getting an automatic passing grade.
Beginning Monday, we’ve decided to bring structure back to our lives. We won’t be setting our alarm at dawn like animals, but we won’t be starting the day at 9am either. This first week was a freebie for the kids...screen time is now over. We’re fortunate in that they all do well at school, they all read on their own, but we want knowledge to continue filling their days. There are educational ressources online that match their curriculum, but we’ll also be looking at cultural websites, museums, even movies for that matter. There are many ways to learn after all.

When Cynthia came back from walking Watson, she mentioned I might want to take pictures of the sandbox in our backyard. She was right. The temperature dropped from 16ºC to -8ºC in less then six hours yesterday, melting the remaining snow and then freezing it all again.
Today those old toys are insects, trapped in amber.
