Intake

I tried breathing, tried counting each intake; a meditation that’s become part of my morning ritual. It didn’t work. Faces kept appearing, dissolving, some blurred and others clear, one after the other.

I’m not a great friend. I admit that. The loner streak within me makes me immune to the concept of “keeping in touch” on a regular basis. But I never forget anyone either, they’re all here, inside...so drifting apart isn’t possible in my world. When I see a person I’ve known, time becomes irrelevant—it could be 20 years since we last met, I’ll still feel exactly as I once did. The thread may break but the relationship never fades. I guess it can be awkward for some.

As I watch the world map fill with the ever growing presence of COVID-19, I can’t help picturing friends and people I’ve encountered over the years. And I can’t help hoping they’re all safe.

...

My current mood ended up hijacking this week’s KAGE story. I’m not even sure if the piece is relevant or if it’s a cop out to be honest with you. I only know it’s all I could say or do. The images in this post are just as disjointed, their sole link to be found in the fragile shelter they depict.

Which may be all that matters right now.
