The Great LEGO Purge of 2020

Watson kept a watchful and profoundly depressed eye—(very) bad weather had cancelled his morning walk. Slowly, boxes and boxes of mismatched pieces (all much too tiny for my ageing eyes) made their way to our dinner table, like the remnants of some mad jigsaw puzzle. I’ve always harboured a soft spot for toys and the moments they represent: the Christmas mornings or birthdays when they first appeared, shiny, new and full of promise. The wide eyes and smiles they revealed; the sibling rivalries that would soon follow. They’re such unsung heroes in the end, keeping silent their great and terrible truth...that cruel but inescapable fall from grace.

Héloïse is the only one who really cares now, but even she has moved on. So this was a much needed purge and re-organization.
Toys may pass though our lives...but they are eternal.
