“We first saw Venice ablaze, dark red and gleaming. Silhouettes jutting out of doorways at the edge of a black canal, its waters like oil.”
The premise of the 1EYE, ROAMING series is simple: a traveler’s visual explorations through one lens, one camera, one focal length. Books II and III expand on the same concept, offering images gathered through long days and nights of walking aimlessly, waiting for moments to present themselves before moving on.
With Book II we move to Venice and Rome during the fall of 2014. The 1EYE in this case is a Fujifilm X100S, on loan from Fujifilm Canada after a conference I had given at Photokina, a few days before our trip to Italy. Like the original 1EYE, ROAMING, this book contains two "technical" chapters: a behind the scenes look at image processing and an essay on travel and street photography.
