Étape
L'Étape is the midway point between Quebec City and Saguenay, lost in the wilderness of the Parc des Laurentides on the only existing link between both regions. When the road closes—usually during winter storms—there's no way in or out. You wait. The place smells of hot dogs and if you're low on gas it'll cost you a few more bucks. It's the price you pay for not thinking ahead.
This is our annual roundtrip to Jonquière, picking up our daughter now that classes are over.
Summer's not here yet but it'll come. It'll come.
