It's Christmas morning. We're gathered on the couch downstairs, and everyone's a little too excited. I mean, it's barely 8 AM and our kids aren't' exactly toddlers anymore. But even Watson's in on the action: he goes nuts for any unboxing of anything, any day. So this, for him, is the Super Bowl.
Anyway, there's a huge box under the tree and since Cynthia wraps most (ok, ALL) of the presents, I'm essentially clueless about its destination or content. So I'm really surprised when she hands it to me, accompanied by a mysterious "En tout cas...". Quick translation: serious doubts and ambivalence included.
It's a Lego set.
The Typewriter Lego Ideas # 035 set.
It includes 340 building steps, and too many tiny pieces to count.
Now, here's the context: I don't build Legos. I don't build model cars, planes, boats, you name it, either. And I actually kinda hate jigsaw puzzles, too. Always have. But... this is a typewriter! And it's absolutely gorgeous!
So, I took the gift as the perfect opportunity to dive into an entirely different kind of activity. And folks, I loved it. Took some pics along the way of course: I couldn't very well leave this undocumented, now could I?
P.S If you're wondering about the final look it's a 1940s Smith-Corona green. I promise to shoot it in full colour eventually ;)
