Holidays 24
Out here, in the up-north-but-not-so-way-up-north, the snow cover is now a fragile and unreliable part of our holiday season. Last week we were taking walks through a fairy tale landscape, trees thick with white, sounds hushed, and the air like a sharp breath-mint. Today it's all brown patches, with rain in the forecast. I've come to accept the back and forth, but only recently. The habits and hopes of the past are tough critters to displace.
Still, I’m writing this on December 17th, folks.
Time to unwind and assess, for our house to fill-up again with kids who aren't anymore; with the smell of tourtières and donuts; with the blinding glow of sparkling lights. Who needs snow, anyway?
I'm not sure what the upcoming year has in store but, for those of us who have that luxury, let's set worries aside for now. Let's enjoy the real and the tangible and the warmth of family and friends.
Thx, always, for being part of my tiny world.
I wish you all the very best of Holidays :)
