L-UNIT Rebooted
Way back in the bygone days of the early interwebs…
… I had a music website where—amongst other things—I shared drafts, works in progress etc. This section was called The Lab Unit, and for a time I integrated the concept as part of 1EYE Society, under a revised L-UNIT appellation (more cryptic, more "modern"). But its existence was short-lived: the content felt too static and unorganized, and I eventually pulled the plug. The idea, however, stayed with me.
Today I'm re-introducing L-UNIT, but as a very different creature: live Zoom sessions.
Nothing overly complex or organized, just informal meetups focusing on a particular subject, with exchanges throughout, followed by a question period on this or anything else. A way to share ideas and connect more directly.
L-UNIT will be split between sessions called DeskWorks and ImageWorks—a nod to the very first software suite I ever used [1] . DeskWorks will focus on apps and workflows, ImageWorks on photography and image processing. Think Lightroom editing, or procedural sound processing in Logic Pro X, for instance. The goal is to bring together all the various pieces of the creative process.
This is intended as exclusive content for Society members, but if the concept works out I do plan on opening specific sessions to the general public.
I'm kicking things off on Wednesday, January 25 at 2 PM EST with DeskWorks—The Obsidian Vault. It'll be a walkthrough and follow-up to this week's post. I figured I'd start with something fairly low-key to test the waters.
If you're a member you'll be receiving login details in the coming days and I hope to see you there. If not: now's the perfect time to join :)
...
I leave you with a hodgepodge of iPhone 14 images... shot with Hipstamatic. The models come and go, but I keep returning to this gritty, gaudy, and messy lil' app.
Later
………………….
The venerable AppleWorks, of course :)
