After a hiatus
Well, this turned into a much longer break than usual, didn’t it?
I’m choosing to call it a confluence of events—part work-related, part state of mind, and part “medical”. Nothing serious on this last one: just my yearly back issue rearing its ugly head with a particular vengeance this time around. Thankfully, it hit me after I was done shooting for a rather extensive assignment.
So yes, it was a busy month, with a series of tight deadlines to meet, and little time for anything else. It happens. You’ll get to see what I was working on soon(ish) btw.
In the meantime:
We had Thanksgiving over the weekend.
Jacob turned 19 (!!!).
I bought a new iPhone.
No, not the iPhone 14 Pro with the newfangled Island thingy and 48MP sensor tricks. Just the basic, “boring”, iPhone 14. Our daughter needed something more recent, and I was kinda due for an upgrade, so it made sense to get this one and pass down my iPhone 11. I know many people consider the iPhone the centrepiece of their tech life, but I really don’t get excited about it. I am, however, always curious to witness first-hand the state of computational photography, and this new gen certainly pushes the envelope further. Even on the normal version, which is basically last year’s Pro optimized with Apple’s new Photonic Engine. (1)
I shot with it over the weekend but I’ve yet to import the images in C1. So for now, here’s the X-Pro3 portion of the day.
