Solstice

I feel like a chronicler of the pandemic. Sigh.

School is over a day early for the girls—because lockdown. We’ve cancelled New Year plans, and our Christmas gathering is on standby. Like most of you, I imagine, I’d dared to hope for a semblance of normalcy, despite what now seems like a casual, resigned acceptance of dystopian realities. I even wrote about resilience in last week’s newsletter, but I had no idea, did I? A week nowadays may as well be six months.

That said, it looks like we’re getting our White Christmas in these parts, which is nice. The music’s playing, the lights are on, and the air now carries that crispness that makes every breath feel new.

We’ll bake cookies and cake, as we always do.
I’ll take pictures—as I always do.

A huge thx to all of you for dropping by my small corner of the universe this past year. Best wishes and a very Happy New Year :)
