What a week that was. Death tolls rising sharply in Quebec, the US ditching the WHO and then—out of the blue—The Idiot’s “liberate!” tweets.
Perfect.
But: this weekend we finally managed to get our hands on Easter chocolate, and chocolate always helps.
Saturday evening I started watching the prime time broadcast of the One World show with Héloïse—she was curious and it certainly felt historical enough. We ended up watching the entire two hours together. I realized a few things: I quite like Billy Eilish’s voice; Taylor Swift alone on the piano (looking a little like David Bowie too?) is a much more powerful proposition (and the song was moving as hell); and after what? Fifty years in the business? Charlie Watts will likely be remembered as The Air Drummer by an entirely new generation. Seriously though: The Stones are The Stones—what a great version that was.
The show veered into sappy at times but then...these are acceptable times to be sappy. Times to hail the true heroes, as opposed to self-aggrandizing egomaniacs. We all need an antidote to unhinged zombies. (1)

On Saturday (afternoon) I also received a notification from Hipstamatic—the app that still remains my goto on the rare times I decide to whip out my iPhone 11 to take pictures. There was a sale on their “Retropaks”: $1.39 CAD for any bundle. I have this weird impulse problem with Hipstamatic in general and this was...well...hard to resist. So I bought one. Just one mind you—points for control, even if I do say so myself.
After a couple of tests with various combos of film/lenses, I settled on SPRKT-BW+Markus NSW. My only issue with it was the grain, which was a bit on the heavy side. Fortunately, these looks are all non-destructive and all the parameters can be changed in the app post-capture...so I lowered the grain intensity a bit.
