Interlude 11/9

The news this morning are all about three things: Don Cherry making a complete ass of himself (duh), Remembrance Day...and winter tires. Long, long lines at repair shops and dealerships everywhere, as we all scramble to get our cars ready for that upcoming First Snowstorm of the Year. No, I don’t have mine on yet. But I don’t need to hit the road these next couple of days so I should be fine. Besides...I once drove through a snowstorm in the Rockies without snow tires. Ok, it was stupid. And yes, I was scared sh$#ess. I forget my point.

So we’re apparently headed into serious winter territory, but we did get a dusting over the last few days. In fact at our home, the snow and ice haven’t melted. And on Saturday morning—with the sun shining and temps below freezing—the world looked quite lovely. Lovely enough to put down the coffee and wander around the backyard in my pyjamas, scarf and winter coat for a few minutes. Don’t you dare laugh: it’s a very fetching look. Honest.

Darkness is coming...can’t escape it. It’s a fact as obvious and inevitable as old racist men unable to resist spewing ignorant venom. But there will be light, interspersed.
There will be light.
