Gettin’ my hood on | a sane alternative to the LH-X100

When I purchased the X100 last year, I didn’t spring for the LH-X100 adapter ring/lens hood accessory. I just simply felt it was way too expensive for something that should’ve been part of the deal to begin with. The adapter at the very least. I have no problems paying for things, but as much as I love the X100 and Fujifilm’s stellar service, I always felt that was price gauging on their part. So I stayed away. Of course, it didn’t take very long for the aftermarket to fill the need for a cheaper/saner version of the accessory. Last week I finally relented and ordered a clone from Amazon Canada.

It arrived straight from Hong Kong yesterday and I’m very pleased.

It looks exactly the same as the Fuji version. The finish is a spot on match and everything fits together perfectly. How much? $16.49 CDN including taxes and shipping. The original version would’ve set me back around $150. Like wow.

This will obviously help with the occasional flaring but my main incentive was handling: it’s much nicer to hold with the lens hood on.

Some hood porn below ;)

UPDATE: here’s the amazon link if anyone’s interested. Not an affiliate so I won’t be getting anything out of it.
