Dissection 001
two choices, seconds apart.
Some of you may recognize these as images I shot for the Fujifilm X-Pro3 campaign project. It was taken on the streets of Toronto—I believe it’s a dry cleaner’s window.
It’s the sort of photograph where timing is everything and lingering…well, lingering can quickly break the spell. It is still, however, good practice to capture a few options, if possible. Not burst mode—nothing screams invasive as much as machine-gunning the shutter—just a few deliberate frames. Sometimes the point of view will change as we walk past a subject, sometimes we’ll pause for a second and grab a slightly different emotion.
I looked long and hard before deciding on the first image as the keeper. The second one is fine, but not as fragile. The direction of the womans’ face also affects the mood of the picture.
One second between the two.
Enough time.
