In August, the scent is almost sickly sweet—a bloom of flowers riding their apex before the fall. I didn’t plan on taking a month-long break from publishing duties, but it turns out I needed it. If you’ve read my latest post, you already know how things unfolded. It’s an odd predicament, to be gripped by this urge to disseminate thoughts, sounds, or images throughout the ether. There are times when all appears to be written, or spoken or sung. And then you breathe in, exhale, and discover nothing is ever truly old or immobile. It all fluctuated again, while your mind was busy elsewhere. September is almost here and our son is already back at school: CEGEP, a big leap. The girls are starting right after Labour Day, and Heloïse—our youngest—is also switching gears this year, joining Anaïs at the secondary level. Our baby days are now definitely behind us. There is a routine on the horizon, despite uncertainties.
