Hey Subscriber First Name,

Most of this issue has a cinematic edge, and I didn’t even plan it this way. It’s funny because I’m beginning work on a project that raises questions about stillness vs motion. About the speed of life and our part in it. Honestly, it’s still mostly vague and unfocused in my mind. A word on the tip of the tongue, just out of reach. But it obviously influenced this week’s choices.

There’s a stylistic filiation that’s present in these stories as well. Something in the colour palettes, and the framing of scenes, the controlled designs of images. The short film about Edward Hopper actually ties everything together—which is ironic, considering I just discovered it a few minutes ago, while drinking my morning coffee. Fate.

You’ll also find a link to The Prismatic Pond, a photography book by Richard Earney. Richard is a 1EYE Society member, and this long-term, impressionistic project of his looks absolutely stunning. It also segues pretty perfectly with what I wrote in the last issue, about “the atomic power of topography”. First 50 copies include an A5 print as well—a steal.
