Instant, no process.

When Dominique Shaw told us she would shoot Instax for a Kage story, I immediately knew she’d nail it. She did. I also thought hmm...I still have an unopened pack of Instax wide don’t I? I did.

Ten frames is unforgiving when you haven’t touched such an uncanny camera in a long, long time. I first forgot about switching distance on at least two images. Then I wrongly assumed L stood for LOW instead of LIGHT—which led to over instead of under-exposure, on a few more.

But damn was this ever fun. I don’t understand why it’s such a thrill to see a small piece of paper pop-out right after the shutter clicks, only to wait for a blurry print to reveal itself. It is though. It’s like a secret box opening, every time.

These were just scanned—dust and all.
