I remember the late-afternoon sun streaming in, the strangely casual hospital furniture attempting to make us feel at home; our lives would never again be the same.

Ten years ago our son Jacob was born, so tiny he could fit in my hands. Ten years during which we went from to two to five — seven if you count the cat and the mouse as the kids like to do.

It’s an ordinary life full of smiles and anger and tears and laughter. A blink in which a decade has passed.

Happy birthday kiddo.
