Blurry Fruits & Dreams of a Noctilux
Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 9:19 AM
This morning I was reading Steve Huff’s review of an upcoming f0.95 lens for Leica M Mount by a company called SLR Magic. It’s a specialty lens aimed at competing with the mythic and insanely pricey Leica Noctilux. Sigh. And again, sigh. Sometimes I think I could just sell everything I own, buy into Leica and spend the rest of my days walking this earth with my eye stuck to a 50mm. A 50mm at f0.95. God.
Anyway, it’s not going to happen - let’s be realistic for a sec. But I had a craving for shallow DOF so I finished my toasts & peanut butter, grabbed the X100 and shot a few frames around me.
Now… back to that movie soundtrack I need to finish.
You can check out the reviews and images at stevehuffphoto here and here.

Ah, a 50mm f/0.95...one day, when I have more money than sense I will get one.
The sad thing is that it's one of the few bits of photography gear that would actually make a difference to the images I could take - rather than just being a photographer's luxury.
As you say, the SLR Magic one looks pretty good, but if I bought one I'd have to get a camera to mount it on too. Sigh.
Nice blurred fruit by the way.
Hey David,
Yeah… It's what I'd call style-defining glass. With a mortgage-defining price of entry (!)
As for the camera: the X-Pro1 will have an M Mount adapter… just sayin' ;)
