the X100 over the weekend
Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:34 AM Slowly beginning to get used to this camera. I have to admit I'm falling in love with it a little more every day. Been trying out various custom settings to see where it takes me. I'll have a follow-up review soon. So far I'm pretty much living in the ISO 800-3200 range but the last pic is ISO 200 f8 handheld at 1/8s - it is crazy clean and sharp. Still shooting JPEG btw...
As Ian Wilkinson mentioned in the comments on my last post, the most important thing with this camera is that I have it with me all the time. Which means I'm getting pictures I otherwise wouldn't. Add the quality to the equation and it answers a dream I've had for a long time.

Thanks Jonathan. I believe the last one is Velvia. In fact most of these are Velvia based presets with softer highlights and (sometimes) shadows. It really does feel odd to be shooting JPEG again but it creates a finite element to picture taking that keeps you on your toes. I've always tried to get it right in camera as much as possible but without RAWs flexibility… well, I kinda HAVE to. No 2 stops highlight or shadow recovery (!)
It's a good exercise. I'm having a ball with this thing.
Awesome
Nice shots with the X100 on this blog. Looks like you've had time to experiement with yours a little more than I have with mine so far... Well done.
I was just wondering what post process you used in order to get that border around the 6th shot (of the lamp post) in this article?
Cheers,
K.
Thanks Patrick. I'm not sure how you could get an X100 file into Hipstermatic other than displaying an image on a screen and then photographing it with your iPhone?
I use Hipstermatic too, it's great... here's some of my efforts with it : http://thepictorial.com/photography/hipstermatic-streetlife-part-1/
All the best,
Kevin.
Thanks for checking out the blog!
I tried Flare and it's great! I needed some borders and was tempted to upgrade Silver Efex pro to version 2, but this (for $20), fit's the bill perfectly... Cheers :-)
For the money Flare is pretty much a no-brainer — glad to help out :)
